St. Tammany VINELink Coverage
Louisiana VINE handles custody alerts for the whole state. It once went by the name LAVNS. The Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement provides the service. Partners include the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association, the Louisiana District Attorneys Association, and the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Its reach covers adults held in parish jails and in state prisons. Visitors can check whether a person is in custody. They can also register for alerts when that person is released or transferred.
Participation matters here. The state's deployment roster lists St. Tammany Parish by name. It lists the Slidell Police Department too. That makes sense, because Slidell runs its own city jail. The parish's dedicated LAVINE subdomain is not always dependable. Treat the statewide VINELink Louisiana interface as the main way in. A search there draws on the same network of parish facilities.
Keep the tool's purpose in view. VINELink reports custody status and sends notifications. It does not show booking photos, blotters, or court dockets. For the jail roster itself, the St. Tammany Parish jail list is the direct source. Later case events, when public, sit with the Clerk of Court's criminal records.
Run a St. Tammany Custody Check
Start by selecting Louisiana on the VINELink screen. The interface runs on JavaScript, so its labels shift without warning. Enter the most exact identity details you have, then check the facility listed on any match before you register for updates.
- Open VINELink Louisiana and select the person or offender search option presented for the state.
- Enter the person’s full name or identification number when known. Try a careful spelling variant only when there is a sound reason.
- Review all returned matches. Compare name, identifier, age or birth information, status, and facility when those details appear.
- Open only the record that matches. Never assume the first similar name belongs to the person being sought.
- Read the custodial agency and status, then contact that facility if the result affects an immediate safety or release decision.
A no-match is not always bad news. It can stem from a fresh intake, a transfer, a municipal booking, a spelling error, or a protected record. For a booking made in the parish within hours, compare the Arrests Last 24 Hours page and call the holding facility directly.
Louisiana VINELink Search Screen
The Louisiana VINELink search screen is the state page where a St. Tammany Parish custody check begins.

The image above shows the official Louisiana VINELink search screen. Read the live version for current button labels and required fields. A screenshot is never a live answer. Custody status in St. Tammany Parish can shift at any hour. Enrollment for alerts must happen inside the active service. VINELink itself is free and confidential. It is built to track one named person rather than support bulk browsing.
What St. Tammany VINELink Shows
Think of a VINELink result as a custody snapshot. It can point you to the right jail and tell you which office to call about an arrest, though it is no substitute for the arrest report or the court record.
| Result field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Name | Compare exact spelling and all available identifiers before selecting a match. |
| Offender or record ID | Use the identifier to distinguish people with similar names and when calling a facility. |
| Custody status | A system snapshot that can change with release, transfer, or intake processing. |
| Facility or location | Shows which jail or state institution should receive a verification call when available. |
| Agency | Helps distinguish STPSO custody, Slidell custody, or the Louisiana state-prison system. |
| Notification option | Begins optional registration for supported status changes. |
A release or transfer event shows where custody stands. It says nothing about how the case ends. The word "disposition" refers to the court's result, so turn to the 22nd JDC record for public details on prosecution, dismissal, plea, acquittal, or conviction.
Register St. Tammany Custody Alerts
Once the correct record is open, VINELink offers notification enrollment. Phone, email, and text alerts are the usual choices. Whichever method you pick, expect a personal identification or PIN step. Keep that PIN private. Confirming an alert or managing a registration may require it.
- Select the live result’s notification or registration control only after confirming the identity and facility.
- Choose an offered delivery method, such as telephone, text, or email, and enter the destination accurately.
- Select the custody changes available for that record, which can include release or transfer.
- Create or confirm the requested PIN and complete any verification sent by the service.
- Save the registration details and keep facility contact information available as a backup.
Signing up is your choice. Alerts simply spare you from checking VINELink over and over for a St. Tammany custody status. They are not a guarantee, though. Phone numbers change, email filters swallow messages, and a system notice can land well after the arrest itself, so treat an urgent situation as a reason to call rather than wait.
St. Tammany and Slidell Deployments
LCLE's deployment list includes both St. Tammany and Slidell. That detail matters. Not everyone arrested in the parish lands in the same jail. STPSO handles bookings at the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, while Slidell Police keeps a separate city jail of its own. Whichever facility VINELink displays should point your next call in the right direction. The parish-specific deployment page sometimes fails to load. Treat that as a technical hiccup, not proof that St. Tammany dropped out of the program. Start with the statewide interface instead. If the person still does not appear once you allow for booking delays, call STPSO Records at 985-809-8242 or reach the city agency directly.
Note: A listed deployment proves a custody channel exists, but the statewide live result remains the source for a particular person’s current status.
Fresh St. Tammany Arrest Delays
A fresh arrest moves through several steps before any system shows it. There is transport, intake, fingerprinting, charge entry, and a housing decision. A person can also bond out fast or transfer elsewhere. Those delays have a payoff. VINELink and the sheriff's arrest roster may disagree for a short stretch. Neither one is wrong about the arrest. For a parish booking, scan the STPSO current roster first. Its 48-hour release option catches quick departures. Slidell Police can confirm whether the city jail played a role. Sometimes you need the actual booking record, not just a status alert. The STPSO Public Records Center is the right route then. The arresting city's records process works too.
- Custody status
- Where the person stands in a correctional system at the time of update.
- Release
- Departure from that custodial placement, which does not decide the criminal case.
- Transfer
- Movement to another jail, prison, agency, or custody level.
- Detainer
- Another authority’s request or legal basis affecting custody or release.
VINELink Custody Boundaries
Louisiana VINE tracks adults held in parish jails and state prisons across the state. Federal custody is a different world. The Federal Bureau of Prisons runs its own inmate locator. Immigration detention relies on the ICE Online Detainee Locator plus DHS-VINELink, a separate federal notification system. An empty Louisiana search therefore cannot rule out federal detention. A federal result looks different. It will not produce a parish booking photograph.

Louisiana VINE and DHS-VINE answer different questions. Treat them as separate systems. The federal BOP locator only covers federal prison custody. For U.S. Marshals holds or federal pretrial detention, call the responsible agency or federal court. ICE runs its own name search and A-number process. Its rules are separate from the rest. A St. Tammany booking entry alone tells you nothing about immigration status.
Confirm St. Tammany Alert Results
Some decisions cannot wait. Release dates, transfers, visitation, medication, transportation, and urgent safety matters all depend on current facts, so call the facility directly.
STPSO's main Covington office sits at 985-809-8200.
Records answers come through 985-809-8242.
The Correctional Center and the public-record custodian are different contacts, so match your question to the right office.
State-sentenced people need a second step. Use Louisiana DOC's inmate-information route alongside VINE, since DOC custody differs from a parish pretrial booking.
For the arrest record, booking photograph, roster policy, and court route, the St. Tammany Parish recent-arrests hub is the place to look.
Note: Treat an alert as a prompt to verify, especially when the timing or custodial agency affects an immediate decision.
